The Untold Tales of Hiawatha Web Comic

Monday, January 28, 2019
Our hero, Hiawatha.
A comic of my very own. It seems a little daunting. So much to do. So much to learn. Despite that, I have never been more excited. Marvel, DC, Peanuts, Calvin and Hobbes, I grew up on them and they inspire me still. Now, I am reading Scott McCloud's Making Comics and that has been enlightening so far. I also started on Will Eisner's Comics and Sequential Art and Shawn Martinbrough's How to Draw Noir Comics. They all seem fantastic.
The very first sketch.

Besides the reading, I have begun the art process. Two character designs so far, our hero, Hiawatha, and one of the villians, Masauwu, the Spirit of Death. (Sounds ominous, doesn't it?)
Spooky villain. Check. Completely drawn in Adobe Illustrator. Inspired by a Hopi Ceremonial Mask
Not actual story yet but wanted to see him in context.
I have a rough outline on the story but think I will write as I go. I have never tried this, it's bit different than a children's book. It's more like making a film I am discovering. Oh, I can't wait to truly dive into it.

Well, I will keep it short for now. Hope to have another update soon.
